Tulum is a picture-perfect destination with beautiful beaches and amazing locations. Here is a list of easy Instagram locations in Tulum. Enjoying your holiday should always be the top priority, as well as getting those beautiful photos for your memories. With this guide, you won’t need to waste time but will be able to take amazing photos while enjoying everything that Tulum has to offer (find out all the Tulum details in my Tulum Travel Guide).
When I visited Tulum I was there for a friends thirtieth birthday. It was August, very sunny, muggy and extremely hot. All we wanted to do was eat good food (check out my Tulum foodie guide) and relax in the pool (there was algae all over the beach when we were there). I still wanted to get some great shots for my content creation, but I didn’t want to lose any moments with my friends. To compromise I found easy Instagram locations in Tulum, usually with an added benefit of exploring.

Matcha Mama
Where Is It?
Matcha Mama is next to La Onda Pizza and located more than halfway down the Tulum Hotel Zone road. I’d recommend walking or cycling if you can.
Quintana Roo 15 470 Zona Hotelera • 77780, Zona Hotelera, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Photo Ideas
Sipping a cold drink while swinging on their porch. Bonus points if you’re on the side with their famous sign “I Love Tulum So Matcha”.
Why It’s An Easy Photo Location In Tulum
Matcha Mama is hugely recognisable on social media, especially with their white swings, thatched roof, and matcha surfboard sign. This is because it’s an easy photo location in Tulum to find. It’s on the main road, and you can’t miss it if you’re driving, walking or cycling by. The added bonus is you get to have a delicious and refreshing drink while you grab your photos (don’t get photos if you’re not going to buy something, they are a business, not a photo booth).

Follow That Dream Sign
Where Is It
The iconic Follow That Dream sign in Tulum is very close to Matcha Mama, and is just a little further down the street. If you want to put in GPS coordinates it’s outside Lolita Lolita Boutique Tulum and across the road from Sueños Tulum.
Photo Ideas
People take lots of fun photos on their bikes. Otherwise, just have some fun following your dreams.
Why It’s An Easy Photo Location In Tulum
Tulum is full of motivational street signs, but this is the most famous, probably because it’s in a popular area of the Tulum Hotel Zone. Make this photo opportunity an easy photo location in Tulum by adding it to your visit to Matcha Mama. We actually went to Matcha Mama for a drink and discovered there was already a photo shoot going on with the swing near the matcha sign. We took photos at the Follow That Dream sign first and then came back to Matcha Mama.

En A La Luz – Large Art Installation
Where Is It
The large art installation in Tulum known as Ven A La Luz is located at the entryway to the Raw Love Café. It’s on the side of the road, so makes it an easy photo location in Tulum.
Photo Ideas
Exploring the hidden forest within or twirling beneath the benevolent gaze of the goddess-like sculpture.
Why It’s An Easy Photo Location In Tulum
The Tulum sculpture, Ven a La Luz, was made by Daniel Popper as a one-off exhibition. It was so popular that it has become a fixture in the Tulum photography scene. The artwork is right at the beginning of the Raw Love Café, which is on the side of the Tulum Hotel Zone road. The location is very easy for photos.
The hardest part would be if you came at a busy time for cars on the road. It’s easier to get the full art installation if the photographer is on the opposite side of the road. However, when it’s peak season the Tulum beach road can be one huge traffic jam, making it hard to get a good photo without a car in it. We went early in the morning on our way to Cobá (I have a guide for the day trip to Cobá and Valladolid here) and had no problems getting a photo.

Tulum Beach
Where Is It
Everywhere, this is why it’s such an easy photo location in Tulum!
Photo Ideas
Lying in the white sand, playing in the blue waters, or enjoying an epic sunset or sunrise.
Why It’s An Easy Photo Location In Tulum
Tulum Beach is very long and beautiful. Usually, the sand is a perfect white with the beautiful blue water of Mexico. All you need to do is walk down through the hotels and it’s all yours. Have fun with your photos and maybe enjoy a beach picnic at the same time. Anyone can visit the Tulum beach, even if you’re not staying at the beachside hotels.

Gran Cenote
Where Is It
The Gran Cenote is Tulum’s best and most well-known cenote. It’s also quite easy to get to, even though it’s not in Tulum town. From the Tulum Beach Zone depending on where your hotel is it can be a thirty to forty-minute bike ride, or a fifteen to twenty-minute car or taxi ride. Riding from Tulum town is even closer. The road is straight and large and there’s a sign so you can’t miss it.
Photo Ideas
Sitting on the wooden platform or lingering in the crystal clear water of the cenote.
Why It’s An Easy Photo Location In Tulum
The Gran Cenote is not as easy a photo location in Tulum as some of the others I’ve mentioned above, but it’s one of the easiest cenotes to get a photo at. It’s definitely an unmissable experience, even if you’re not looking for photos. If you head there for opening at 8:00 am it can still be busy, but definitely not as busy as some other times. This means a quick photo opportunity is usually by yourself and you won’t have to wait around for others to finish taking photos.

Tulum is on my list for long. These are some amazing and perfect spots for photos.
These spots are all so beautiful and your photos are amazing! I would love to visit!
These are awesome photos and spots! I love getting photos that don’t interfere with my exploration and enjoyment of a location, so these will be perfect if I make it to Tulum!
All of these places look amazing. The sculpture is so cool but I also love the natural spots. Great guide.
So many great ideas! Now I just need to book my trip… I’ll definitely save this for later
How beautiful is this place! I love the Ven a La Luz sculpture and the Gran Cenote looks incredible 😍😍 can’t wait to travel there some day!
I visited Tulum last year but only on a day trip, I absolutely fell in love it with! I spent my honeymoon in Playa Del Carmen but if I’d have known about Tulum sooner I would’ve spent my time there instead. I can’t wait to return some day!
Saving these spots for our next trip to Mexico!
Wow! I love this list. Tulum is on my travel list, and now I can’t wait to visit! Thanks for the help for insta-worthy photos. I’ll be saving this for later! xx
This is an exceptional guide! I’m SO bad at shooting photos, but also scouting out great locations for them. Some people have that creative eye, or attention to detail – and I just don’t. This certainly makes things easier for when we visit Tulum which hopefully will be next winter break! Short plane ride for us!
Wow you have taken stunning photos in Tulum. They really tempt me to go there right now. Your photo with follow the dream signboard is looking total fun.
Hi Thank you for all your guides and tips. I am traveling to Tulum w/ the main purpose to see Ven a la Luz sculpture. I was told it was on Ahau Tulum, is it not? This would make my trip a lot cheaper.
thanks
Melissa
Hi Melissa, sorry for the late response, I just had a baby and am still getting used to this juggling. The sculpture is at the entry of Ahau Tulum. This means you can visit it easily without staying at the resort.
